Aims
AIME was created for the purpose of co-ordinating the activities of its constituent members and providing a single focus for the medical engineering profession in the UK. For further information please see the Terms of Reference (pdf file).
Specifically, it set itself three aims, as outlined below:
- to promote technology transfer and industrial competitiveness in Medical Engineering
The members institutions of AIME traditionally achieve this by staging individual programmes of events. In future there will be much more harmonisation of these events and the institutions will work together to identify other methods of promoting technology transfer. A joint listing of all events organised by the member institutions of AIME can be found on this site.- to promote research, development and manufacturing in Medical Engineering
- to work alongside the Royal Academy of Engineering UK Focus for Biomedical Engineering
AIME will work alongside UK Focus, ensuring that there is no duplication of activities and keeping a watching brief on the issues emerging from UK Focus . Wherever possible, AIME will complement the activities of UK Focus providing information etc as appropriate.Document last updated: 2004-12-18
