Memorandum of Understanding
The Association has been formed in response to a need to harmonise the various programmes of activities in support of the medical engineering community. This will encompass such activities as conferences, lectures, courses, information services, publications and public affairs. The Association will aim to avoid conflict or duplication of events, to promote joint ventures wherever this is advantageous and to maximise the visibility of such activities to the widest possible audience.
The specific aims of AIME are:
- to promote technology transfer and industrial competitiveness in Medical Engineering
- to promote research, development and manufacturing in Medical Engineering
- to work alongside the Royal Academy of Engineering UK Focus Group on Medical Engineering
- to establish a joint World Wide Web site
Membership of AIME consists of a number of Institutions and the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Presidents of the founder bodies.
Current members of AIME are:
- The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE)
- The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
- The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM)
- The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3)
- The Institute of Physics (IoP)
- The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM)
